The Common Thread. A Sakura Bloom photo documentary celebrating the commonalities that we share through the capture of what makes us unique.

We are excited today to introduce @lapetitepeach, Desiree Spinner, as photographed by @firstmatebeck.

Name: Desiree Spinner

Kids + Ages: Luke (11), Wesleigh (2), and Wren (5 months)

Where you live: Cape Cod, MA

What is unique about the wall you're standing in front of: The Boat Museum in town… one of my favorite spots to take the kids but also in the summer we have a farmers market here.

I spend 90% of my time doing: the mom thing! and 10% of my time: writing... but I am hoping as the kids get older to spend more here but for now I am in the throws of mommyhood.

The strangest thing I ever discovered in the bottom of my sling was: Birthday cake! I took Wesleigh to a party and was wearing Wren and, when I took her out, a piece of birthday cake was in the bottom.

When I'm celebrating, you'll find me eating: Cheese and drinking: rose!

If I could have any superpower, it would be: to be two places at the same time! At the playground with my girls and at the hockey rink with my big guy.

Making pancakes on the weekend, I'm listening to: Coldplay or Beyonce... I could never pick just one!

If I got pulled over for speeding, I'd most likely be listening to: A podcast…I've been so into them the past few years. Lately I have been listening to Zen Parenting, Here’s the Thing with Alec Baldwin and Being Boss.

If I could spend a month making the world a better place, I’d: Try to give every baby/child a loving home. All children need is love and it breaks my heart if they can’t get it, especially in the first few months of life. It makes a huge impact on the people they become.

The most inspiring Instagram feed to follow is: @jo_rodgers - ooh her life is charmed! The English countryside and delicious food!

My top tip for a new parent: Stop, take a deep breath and soak it all up. It really does go by too fast.

My favorite book recommendation: Gift from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh! It's a beautiful book about balancing motherhood and creative life.

If I could only have one Sakura Bloom on a desert island, I'd have: my black linen sling because I think its the most lightweight and comfortable plus it keeps the sun away from the baby!

If you get me talking about: books you might as well cancel the rest of your day.

The name of my memoir would be: Oh for a writer this is way too tough! I have about 20 books brewing in my mind at all times…but I would have to say “Two if by Sea” It has a deep New England History and I have always loved the saying.

The top item on my bucket list is: To travel to Australia. I travel a ton but I am petrified to fly so I will really have to talk myself into that long flight… maybe when the kids are older.

If I could go anywhere in the world for a week, I'd choose: Italy…I lived there when my oldest was a toddler and I would love to bring all my kids there now and spend time in Florence and on the coast.

Thank you so much for joining us for The Common Thread!
